“May my cry come before you, Lord; give me understanding according to your word. May my supplication come before you; deliver me according to your promise.”
Psalm 119:169-170 NIV

It always interesting when you see somebody and they say, “I was talking to someone and your name came up!” At that point I want to know “Why did my name come up?!”

There are some people who you want them to keep your name out of their mouth. But then there are others who mean you well and will give you an honorable mention. There are some who will tear you down and some who will bring you up to lift you up.

When you talk to God you want your name to come up! God never ignores you or sends you to voicemail when you call him. The psalmist believed that when he said:

  1. May my cry come before you. When you send in petitions or amendments concerning important information you can only hope that it comes before the right people. Whenever you pray to God and ask in Jesus’ name it always comes to the right people.
  2. Give me understanding according to your word. When we pray we have to make sure we follow it up with God’s holy word. God will always clarify himself through his word. That’s why we need to hear the preached word and read the written word every day.
  3. May my supplication come before you. When we humbly approach God and plead with him he is more apt to hear our cry. You can beg to see the president but you may never get an audience but the God of the universe will see you now!
  4. Deliver me according to your promise. Nothing and no one can snatch us out of the Father’s hand. God is a strong deliverer! He will come through every single time!

Dear God,

Thank you for allowing our requests to come before you. You love us and you care about us. It’s comforting to know that you will be there when we need you. Today I anticipate that you will resolve every little thing that I have sent up to you. I wait in expectation of my deliverance.

In Jesus’ Name,
