Sometimes we can be so overwhelmed with what we don’t have that we lose faith in what God can do. The lack of not having can put you in a bad headspace if you let it.
- The people murmured. The word murmur means: A complaint half suppressed, or uttered in a low, muttering voice. It’s a constant stream of complaints aimed at the source of the people who are murmuring discontent. The people blamed Moses but it was God who took it personal.
- Murmuring causes the leaders to get weary. Even with all the good that God did through Moses when the murmuring started over food it also got in the leaders. Moses sister and brother took exception to Moses wife because he married a black woman. They said, “Moses isn’t the only one that hears from God! We can hear from him too!” God struck Miriam with leprosy for not being afraid to put her mouth on God’s prophet. Don’t let your murmuring make you sick.
- Murmuring can make the man of God doubt God. Moses said, “There are 600,000 people in the middle of the desert! Where am I going to get enough meet to feed them everyday?!” After you hear a steady stream of complaining every week it can weigh on you. God will not put more on you than you can bare so he tells Moses…
- I can show you better than I can tell you. Because the people have been murmuring, because the people have put their mouth on you, because this has worn you down I’m about to prove myself to all of y’all!! I’m about to do what I said that you didn’t believe. God is not doing this because we had faith. He’s doing it to protect his name. That’s why David said, “He leads me in paths of righteousness for his names sake!” This next move of God is for the murmurers in your midst. For everybody that put his or her mouth on you God is getting ready to work a miracle that will shut up everybody! Even Moses needs to be reminded that he’s God!!
Forgive me for listening to the murmurs and doubting you. You have never failed me or this group of people you’ve called me to lead. Get my mind and heart right so that I can receive the miracle you are about ready to perform. I’m about to see you move like you’ve never moved before! Thank you for the miraculous outpouring for what we need to sustain ourselves. Thank you for the manna and the meat and for meeting all my needs according to your riches in Glory!!!
In Jesus Name,
