SUNRISELamentations 3:21-23 Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope: Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed,for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning;great is your faithfulness. 

Sometimes it can seem like life is filled with repetitions of the same old stuff sprinkled with little inconveniences. It can make you feel hopeless when bad things keep on happening and good news is delayed. I don’t know what kind of week you’re having but I wanted to interrupt your regular scheduled mundane cycle of every day events to tell you that you have something new!

The writer of Lamentations was mourning the loss of God’s favor for Israel because of their sin. They were under punishment and he was about to give up hope until he remembered something. Every morning God gave him something new. No matter how hard it was right then he knew that something new was on the way.

1.  Because of the Lord’s mercy we are not consumed. The only reason we have not been consumed by all of the evil that could have wiped us out is because of God’s mercy. Justice demanded that we should die but God’s mercy said “No!” God has more for you in spite of what your situation looks like. You are still here. You’ve been kept by his love!

2.  His compassions never fail. Other people may grow tired in helping you but God will never give up on you. It doesn’t matter how long it takes to get you there God will never turn his back on you. He knows just how much you can bear.

3.  They are new every morning. This morning you need to look around for new mercies. God is sending something fresh for you because he heard your cry last night. Weeping may endure for the night but Joy comes in the morning. Something fresh is coming your way!

Dear God,

Help me to walk in your new mercies today. Forgive me of my sins and let me know your favor again. Restore life back to me and give me favor that I may operate at the level of excellence that you have ordained for my life. Remove debt, send increase, and expand my territory. I thank you for waking me up this morning in my right mind. Thank you for your mercy.
