Judges 16:5 The rulers of the Philistines went to her and said, “See if you can lure him into showing you the secret of his great strength and how we can overpower him so we may tie him up and subdue him. Each one of us will give you eleven hundred shekels of silver.”

There are people sent to be in your life to help you and there are people sent to destroy you. You have to figure out who’s who. JESUS knew this well because out of his 12 disciples one of them would betray him for 30 pieces of silver. It seems everybody has a price to sell out a friend. It’s important to know who’s holding your bag and watching your back.

Samson was one of the strongest judges in the Old Testament but one of the most unwise judges. Samson was led by his libido. He didn’t make good decisions. He chose the wrong women a lot of times and each time it cost him something.

Samson was born with supernatural strength. His mother had special instructions on how he was to protect his gift. One particular rule was that he could never cut his hair.

Samson messed up by telling a secret to his first wife and it got her killed. The trauma of that event set him up to share his secret with his girlfriend and got him captured.

1.  Secrets are shared with people you trust not people you lust. When something is so important to you that it could be detrimental if the information got into the wrong hands then it is important that you protect it from the wrong people.

2.  There is a difference between a good secret and a bad secret. Samson’s first secret was about a gambling wager. His second secret was about a spiritual strength. When you mix bad secrets with good secrets you don’t now how to protect the good.

3.  Secrets are for soul mates not secret lovers. Secrets bind people together. Everyone Delilah asked Samson about his secret she tried to tie him up, symbolizing the binding power of secrets. The only person go should know the secret to your strength is the person you are bound to for life. Whatsoever God has bound together let no man separate. Telling your secrets to someone other than the person whom God sent you will always lead to death.

Dear God,

Give me discernment on who to open up to and who to stay away from. Protect my space from people who’ve been sent to bring me down and not lift me up. As much as it depends on me let me live with. Clean conscience and no bad secrets so that I’m not bound to the wrong people. Thank God for JESUS whom set me free from every chain and everybody. Thank you God that I am free!

In JESUS Name,

Amen
