Galatians 4:29 At that time the son born according to the flesh persecuted the son born by the power of the Spirit. It is the same now.

I was talking to Monte the other day and he said, “you are not normal.” I laughed because he was talking about my life and how all the turn of events have shaped who I am. He said, “you’re the only black person I know that was raised in a trailer. Now look at you!”

What he was saying to me was that I am not ordinary. The trajectory of my life has been divinely orchestrated for a particular purpose. It has not been by human effort alone but God intentionally decided to use me for his Glory.

Much of my life I’ve been antagonized by people who didn’t understand my “differentness.” It used to bother me until I realized that I’m not ordinary.

Isaac was a child of promise born to a barren woman in her old age. His older brother Isaac was an “ordinary ” child born of human effort. The ordinary child teased the extra ordinary child. Why?

1. Ordinary people are always intimidated by extra ordinary people.

2.  Ordinary people are insecure around extra ordinary people.

3.  Ordinary people have to work really hard for what comes natural or super naturally for extra ordinary people.

What’s sad is that ordinary and extraordinary are brothers. They should be able to coexist. It’s hard for older ordinary people to accept extra ordinary younger siblings.

Never again apologize for not being ordinary you were born for a purpose and you’re not supposed to blend in but to stand out! You are the answer to someone’s prayer!

Dear God,
Thank you for making me EXTRA ordinary. You have orchestrated the events of my life to make me into somebody with purpose. I understand the persecution. There is something you have equipped me to accomplish that others can’t and that makes them uncomfortable. Continue to use me as you see fit. Thank you for letting me be more like Jesus everyday because he too was “no ordinary child.”

In Jesus Name,
