1 Corinthians 12:22 “In fact, some parts of the body that seem weakest and least important are actually the most necessary.”
There are times when we seem insignificant. When we compare ourselves with the position or notoriety of others it would appear that we are not important. There is a danger in comparing yourself with others because in God’s eye there is no comparison to you. Your significance is not in your size or how much you are seen but in your position in the Kingdom. You are most necessary. The NIV says that you are indispensable!
When we look at the body there are parts that are more noticeable than others. It would be foolish to disregard the unseen parts as unimportant. Just ask a pretty woman all dressed up with shoes that are too small. You can’t see her toes screaming because they are smaller and hidden but they are so necessary. You may be small and hidden but you are so necessary.
- It’s important to know your role in the body. What is your spiritual gift? Take a spiritual gift assessment to discover your role in the body. http://www.spiritualgiftstest.com/test/adult
- Play your role. Once you discover what your role is be faithful in using your gift to help others. Spiritual gifts only work when you use them to help other people. If you don’t use them you lose them.
- Remember that you bring value to the body no matter how hidden you think you are. The more hidden you are the more necessary. Intercessors are hidden but their prayers are powerful. Children’s workers are hidden but they teach our babies.
There’s a great book you should read by Seth Godin called “Linchpin: are you indispensable?” We should all learn how to bring value to our organization and realize just how necessary our gifts are to the body.
Thank you for showing me my significance in the body of Christ. Even though, some may overlook me, I am never overlooked by you. Now I know why you have me hidden because my work and worth are more important than being seen. Thank you for hiding me underneath your wing and using me to bless your people.
In Jesus Name,
