“Some of you were once like that. But you were cleansed; you were made holy; you were made right with God by calling on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.” 1 Corinthians 6:11 NLT

We’ve all gotten caught up before. We’ve allowed ourselves to get off track spiritually and pollute God’s temple. Our bodies are the Temple of the Holy Spirit.

Before we clean house we have to clean our temples. There’s an old Gospel song that said, “Sweep around your own front door before you try to sweep around mine.” We spend so much time trying to get our organizations right but fail to get our own life right.

It’s amazing how well we can identify where someone else has fallen short but we can’t see our own character flaws.

None of us are here because we were so holy but because of God’s grace.

Through Jesus we have to:

1. Take an honest inventory of our own spiritual condition and confess to God our sins. It takes an emotionally mature person to recognize their own blind spots and admit to them.

2. Ask God and others for forgiveness. When it’s possible ask people to forgive you. When it’s not because the wound is still to fresh, ask God to restore the relationship.

3. Let the Holy Spirit clean you up. God’s Spirit is the only thing that can change our will-Set. The Holy Spirit can transform your mindset.

Dear God,

Clean me up from the inside out. Don’t let me be the reason the house gets messed up. I pray that my lifestyle choices bring you honor and not shame. Give me the discipline to keep my temple in order. For I realize that God’s Holy Spirit cannot dwell in an unclean vessel. Clean up, Lord!

In Jesus’ Name!
