“Can two people walk together without agreeing on the direction?” Amos 3:3 NLT

It’s important to know the person you are doing life with because you might not be headed in the same direction.
Imagine two people in a row boat. One person wants to go forward and one person wants to go backwards. That can be a waste of energy because they can’t agree on the direction.
The first person we need to be in alignment with is God. We can want something all day but if it’s not in the will of God we will be rowing in vain. We have to make sure our plans are in the will of God. Isaiah 55:8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the LORD.
We have to make sure we are in alignment with our primary relationships. You cannot plow a field with an ass and an ox. Deuteronomy 22:10 Do not plow with an ox and a donkey yoked together. Their natures will not allow them to cooperate. The ass is a stubborn beast whereas the ox is accustomed to pulling heavy loads. You can’t be connected to someone that wants to be a donkey.
You have to be in alignment with the leadership. Some of us wonder why we are still wandering in the wilderness. When the children of Israel rebelled against their leader Moses God caused them to wander longer than they had to. When you cannot walk in agreement with your leader it stifles the productivity of the organization. When you can no longer walk with your leader you should leave instead of causing the movement to cease.

Dear God,
Help me to inspect my relationships with the people I’m connected to. Strengthen my connection to you by allowing your Holy Spirit to guide me. Strengthen my connection to others by putting me in equally yoked relationships. Use me to make my community better by following the leader you sent to make our community better. I want to be part of the solution not part of the problem.

In Jesus Name,
Amen
