Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.””

One of the scriptures we love in church but use out of context is this one, “give and it shall be given back to you! Pressed down, shaken together, running over…” We automatically think about money but it is so much more than that. It’s about forgiveness!

I was holding a lot of bitterness toward someone that owed me some money. It bothered my spirit just thinking about it. After talking to my counselor about forgiveness, she told me the person didn’t owe me anything! The blood of Jesus is enough. I was floored by this revelation. In holding this person captive in my heart I was blocking my own blessing.

I prayed a prayer of forgiveness that night. “Forgive me of my debts as I forgive those who owe me!” Tears began to flow. God told me, “now that you’ve released them I’m going to release you!”

That week I got a huge financial breakthrough that I had been waiting years to receive. It didn’t happen until I forgave.

  1. Don’t condemn people. People are human. They are prone to mistakes. It is not our job to condemn them for those mistakes. We are to love them within proper boundaries. Some people we can be reconciled with and others who are unsafe we set up boundaries, but we don’t condemn.
  2. Forgive and you will be forgiven. The same blood of Jesus that paid for our sins is the same blood that paid for the debt that people owe you through the offense they hit you with. We cannot ask God to forgive us and we refuse to forgive others.
  3. Give and it shall be given back to you. God will release back to you the same measure that you give to other people. If you sow little you reap little. If you sow big you reap big. If someone owes you a whole lot and you forgive it then get ready for God to give you a whole lot back!! Whatever you put out in the universe it is coming back to you!!

Dear God,

Thank you for releasing me to get back what I gave up. You are the only one that can restore justice and what I lost. It is your loving kindness that has kept me not my need for revenge. Continue to get my heart right so that I can receive every good thing that you have stored up for me.

In Jesus Name,
