ID-100264803Hebrews 2:1 “We must pay the most careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away.“

It’s so easy to drift. Texting and driving can lead to drifting Ito fatal crashes. Partying too much in school can lead to drifting right out of academic standing. Little compromises can least drifting out of the will of God. We got to be more careful!

No one wakes up saying, “I’m going to walk away from God today!” No. We drift away little by little because we have not anchored ourselves in the Lord.

How do we intentionally “be” more careful?

  1. Pay attention to patterns. When you notice things that pull you away from God try to figure out how to cut them off so you won’t drift.
  2. Anchor yourself in the word of God. David said, “I have hidden your word in my heart so that I might not sin (drift) against you!”
  3. Keep your eyes focused on Jesus. But if your eyes are unhealthy, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness! Matthew 6:23
  4. Stay on course. Every day map out your course. Know where you need to go and don’t take any detours that might take you away from the will of God.

Dear God,

Keep me on course. I must be getting close because the distractions are intensifying. Help me to keep my eyes on the prize and hold on!

In Jesus Name!
