I urge you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Keep away form them.
There are some people who just like to keep a bunch of mess going. A gossip betrays a confidence; so avoid anyone who talks too much. (Proverbs 20:19) Some people’s mission in life is to divide people and distract them form their purpose. A dog who brings a bone, will carry a bone. If a gossip will tell you something about someone else, they will tell someone else something about you.
Paul warns the believers in Philippi and in Romans to watch out for those dogs, those evildoers, and those mutilators of the flesh. (Philippians 3:2). He was talking about those who were pushing circumcision as a requirement to salvation. It was by grace that they were saved but here comes these messy people saying something contrary to the gospel they had been taught. Paul warns them…
1. Watch out for those who cause division. Where there is no vision, a people perish, where there are two visions people are split. Once God reveals to you the vision for your life don’t’ let anybody cause you to experience Di-Vision because of mess. People were always trying to cause Jesus followers distress by bringing mess about their leader. “Your teacher eats and drinks with sinners!” Jesus would have to get them straight by responding with the things like, “I did not come to those that are well but to those that are sick.” Don’t bring me no mess!
2. Watch out for people who put obstacles in your way. People who are supposed to be in your life don’t come in and try to block your progress. Jesus replied, “And you experts in the law, woe to you, because you load people down with burdens they can hardly carry, and you yourselves will not lift one finger to help them. Luke 11:46
3. Watch out for people who teach something contrary to what you know is right. Everyone has their own interpretation of the truth but it doesn’t make it true. You have to now the truth for yourself. Truth is a person; Jesus Christ. Jesus said my sheep know my voice and they will not listen to the voice of a stranger. (John 10:27) when you know the truth the truth will set you free from messy people.
Help me to keep messy people out of my life. I can see clearly now with all obstacles out of my way. Keep me focused on my mission and committed to my purpose. Clean up my mess.
In Jesus Name,
