Galatians 1:6 I am shocked that you are turning away so soon from God, who called you to himself through the loving mercy of Christ. You are following a different way that pretends to be the Good News
Every since I was a child I knew God was real. As the old folks used to say, “I know too much about him for you to make me doubt him!” Even before I could fully understand the Gospel, I knew God through nature. I was introduced to God by my mother. Then I came to a saving knowledge of  Christ through the gospels.
Like Paul, I am shocked by how many people are turning away from God to follow other gods or to stop believing all together. Every generation has had its doubters. Nothing is new under the sun but with technology the turning away seems faster.
When you have received the Good news of Jesus it ought to hold you and give you blessed assurance. The good news is that God loves us so much that he sent his only son to die for us and that he was raised from the dead. As a result we are forgiven of our sins and have the right to abundant life now and eternal life with God. Life has no meaning without God. So why turn away now?
1.  Some turn away because of trauma. They ask, “if Hod was loving why would he allow me to go through what I went through?” JESUS who suffered more than anyone encouraged his disciples that in this world they would have trouble but to be of good cheer for he had already overcome.
2.  They turn away because the wrong people get in their ear. Satan has always tried to pull us away from God with a third party who comes to ask the question, “Did God really say that?” The devil is a liar and his only goal in life is to get you to turn away from God.
3.  They turn away because they substitute the gospel for some fake “good news.” Many times people take bits and pieces of what God says to create their own gospel that matches the lifestyle they want to live. We can’t take part of the gospel we have to live out the full Gospel.
Today ask yourself, ” have I turned away from God or am I where I need to be?” What is the only thing that can make you turn away from God?
Dear God,
Nothing and nobody will ever make me turn away from you.  I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow–not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. Lord draw me closer than I’ve ever been and don’t let anything turn me away from you!
In Jesus Name,
Amen
