Hebrews 12:1 “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.”

We can be thrown off by many distractions. Some people are sent into our lives for no other purpose than to throw us off. Whether it’s Delilah used by the Philistines to get Samson’s strength or somebody like Peter temporarily used by Satan to try and throw Jesus off from his mission; we have to make sure we are not thrown off. The people who are in the most danger of being thrown off are those who have great assignments. If there is purpose on your life you have to watch out for distractions and throw them off!

  1. We are surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses. We have hall of fame faith walkers as mentioned in Hebrews 11 that had to press through distractions. It just comes with the territory. Whenever you have position you will have opposition. Press through!
  2. Throw off every weight, and sin that so easily entangles. The devil knows what you like and what distracts you. You have to be disciplined enough to throw it off. There are unnecessary weights that you carry we you are weighed down with sin. Throw it off by keeping a clear conscience.
  3. Run with perseverance the race set out for us. There are two things here. Run with the ability to keep going inspire of challenges you run into. Secondly run the race “set out” for you! In other words stay on the route God has created and don’t be rerouted by so called “short cuts” created by the enemy. There’s no right way to do the wrong thing. Throw it off!

Dear God,

Help me to throw off every thing that has been trying to distract me. Help me to finish strong! Help those who are running but feel themselves getting tired. Give them a second wind so that they can win in the end!

In Jesus Name,
