“But blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence. They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green, and they never stop producing fruit.”
Jeremiah 17:7-8 NLT

We’ve all experienced droughts in our finances. You know those times when the streams of revenue just aren’t flowing like they should. It just doesn’t make sense. You have positioned yourself in a place where you think you can best succeed and nothing seems to be working. It’s time to re-evaluate where you are to make sure you’re in the best place to survive a drought.

  1. Blessed are those who’s trust is in the Lord and they have placed their hope and confidence in him. This sounds so simple but it’s so hard for most people to do. This is the starting place for coming out of a drought. Your trust must be in God not your abilities, not other people, not even your hustle. Without God none of these will be effective. But when you trust God and put your confidence in him, something happens!
  2. You will be like a tree planted by the riverbank who’s roots run deep into the water. In other words you will tap into unending resources. You will move into sustainability. Your present and your future will be provided for. When we live outside of God’s will our resources keep drying up. God has unlimited resources when you trust in him.
  3. You are not bothered by heat or long months of drought. When other people panic you are protected. When other people give up hope you are living in expectation. You have peace that surpasses all human understanding that you will be provided for by God’s unfailing hand.
  4. Your leaves stay green and you will keep being productive. Green represents prosperity. When you are aligned with God’s will and put your trust in him he will keep green on your branches and fruitfulness in your life. He will keep green in your pocket and opportunities to keep producing it. It is God who gives us the ability to get wealth.

God is the source of our ability to get the resources we need even during a drought. Get in position for your roots to go down deeper.

Dear God,

Thank you for keeping us during these hard times. Father, we need you to replant us by riverbanks. We need better opportunities to obtain jobs that give us living wages. We have grown weary and doubt has crept in but if you would help us with our unbelief and replant us I believe that we can produce for you more than we did in years past. God, renew our faith so that we can stay green and bear more fruit for you!

In Jesus’ Name,
