13 “If you carefully obey the commands I am giving you today, and if you love the Lord your God and serve him with all your heart and soul, 14 then he will send the rains in their proper seasons—the early and late rains—so you can bring in your harvests of grain, new wine, and olive oil.

Deuteronomy 11:13-14 NLT

As we head into Holy Week God has decreed prophetically that our new year starts now! It starts with a renewed understanding of just exactly why Jesus came into this world to die for our sins. It starts when we repent from cheapening his sacrifice and recommitting ourselves to whole-hearted devotion to Jesus and serving his bride the church.

Sunday night God hit the reset button for our church in a much needed prophetic prayer and consecration service. We are entering into a time of harvest where God will separate the wheat from the tare and give increase to those committed to his cause.

In this season our obedience is necessary to experience a move of God like nothing we’ve experienced. Here’s what needs to happen:

  1. If you carefully keep the commandments I’m giving you today… God’s word never changes but his charge to each church is different. There were seven churches in the book of Revelation that Jesus gave seven distinct instructions. It’s time to get rid of all backbiting, gossip, and submit wholeheartedly to the leader of God’s house. When we follow the vision of the house God’s promise is to do something new. Each church should take inventory of where they have fallen short and strengthen what remains.
  2. We have to love God with all our heart and soul. We have to get rid of half-hearted devotion to God. Jesus called this “lukewarm ” love that made him want to vomit the church out of his mouth. We have to be hot or cold. Many churches have allowed their love to grow cold because they have held onto offense against one another. Our love for God and each other should be hot like tea that cleanses the digestive system and eliminates toxic waste.
  3. He will send the early rains and the late rains. In order for our harvest to grow and our seeds to grow we need rain. We need early rain to get started and late rain to keep growing. We need perseverance to keep going between the early and late rain! The hardest part is to keep trusting God when it ain’t raining.
  4. Get ready for something new, different, and fresh. When we get in proper alignment we can anticipate new grain. The new grain represents seeds that you plant that are fully manifested. You can’t anticipate new grain if you don’t have a seed in the ground. New wine represents a new spirit in the lives of the believers. God wants to renew congregations with new wine but it requires us to renew the right spirit and repent of our bad attitudes. New oil represents new anointing to accomplish everything God spoke over you! This next move can’t be accomplished with your gifts but it must involve the Holy Spirit!

This is the season that God will do something new, something different, and something fresh! Don’t you want to experience this new thing that God is doing?!

Dear God,

Thank you for hitting the reset button on our church. We are returning to our first love. We see that we are wretched, naked, and in need of seeing you in a fresh way. We need a second touch. Forgive us for allowing jealousy and envy to divide your house. We are ready to recommit ourselves back to you. Do something new, something different, and something fresh and let it start in me!

In Jesus’ Name,

Amen
