Somebody Already Moved It!

Mark 16:2-4 Very early on the first day of the week, just after sunrise, they were on their way to the tomb and they asked each other, “Who will roll the stone away from the entrance of the tomb?” But when they looked up, they saw that the stone, which was very large, had been rolled away.

There is something big you are facing and you are wondering how you are going to move it. You don’t have the strength to move it. You don’t have the people power to move it. You don’t have the money to move it but nevertheless it needs to be moved.

It was the first day of the week. It had been a devastating weekend. Jesus had been executed and the disciples were on their way to clean his bloody body. The only problem on top of being devastatingly depressed was that these feeble women couldn’t move the heavy rock that had been rolled in front of the tomb.

It’s the first of the week for you. You’ve been through something devastating earlier this year. Your strength is gone yet you still got to move this rock. What are you going to do?

1. Ask God for help. The woman began to talk out loud. “How are we going to move this rock?” Right now you should be praying about what is too big for you to move. Your problem might be too big for you but nothing is too big for God.

2. Get to the place. Instead of trying to avoid your problem go face it. Avoiding it isn’t going to make it disappear. Whether it’s a debt, a relationship that is rocky, or a crisis you have got to go face it after you’re prayed up with a determination that it’s got to be moved.

3. When Jesus is on the other side of what you’re trying to move look for divine intervention. When they got there the rock was bigger than they thought but there was an angel on top of the rock that had already been moved. What you don’t know is that God has already sent angels that are moving the rock on your behalf you just got to get there.

The Disciples were told to go tell the other disciples that Jesus had been raised from the dead. Your job this morning is not to focus on the problem but to focus on the praise, the rock has been moved and that rock is Jesus! When you go to work today tell somebody how God is moving in your life and get ready for God to move something else!

Dear God,

I thank you that you are still moving. On this Election Day we need you to move on behalf of the poor. We ask you to protect the rights of women. We ask you to raise the minimum wage. We ask you to move mean people out of the way and put in people who will work for the good of the poor, the weak, and the disenfranchised. Help us to show up at the polls and then watch you move it!

In Jesus Name,
