“Restore our fortunes, LORD, as streams renew the desert. Those who plant in tears will harvest with shouts of joy. They weep as they go to plant their seed, but they sing as they return with the harvest.” Psalms 126:4-6 NLT

It’s been raining the last couple of days and I’m glad about it. We needed it. The lakes and ponds had receded due to a lack of rain. God knows when we are at the danger point of losing too much and he then sends the rain.

Some of us have seen a receding of income. We’ve been wondering when relief would come. God is waiting in us to release the responsibility of rain back to him. He’s the only one that can make it rain. But we can pray.

  1. Restore our fortunes Lord as streams renew the desert. The key words here are restore and renew. When David sinned against God he asked God to restore his Joy and renew the right spirit within him. Sometimes the desert is within us. Things can’t flow right because we ain’t right within. Lauryn Hill asked, “How you going win when you ain’t right within?” We cut off our flow from God when we are not right with God.
  2. Those who plant in tears will harvest with shouts of joy. God never wastes pain. Every tear we have cried is a seed to plant for our harvest of purpose. If we do not grow weary in doing good we will reap a harvest of righteousness. There is seed time and harvest time. There are a lot of tears during the seedtime because you don’t see the harvest just the dirt but if you can keep the faith eventually the harvest follows.
  3. They weep as they go to plant their seed but return with singing during harvest. God is about to turn your weeping into singing. Just when you thought things were going to dry up God showed up!

Wherever you are in the process trust God! God sees your faithfulness. Don’t abandon the process because of the pain. Your harvest is closer than you think!

Dear God,

Bless my brother and sister today to be encouraged. We know that weeping endures for one night but joy comes in the morning. Send new streams of income and replenish what they thought they lost. Thank you for making streams in the desert and for finally sending the harvest!

In Jesus Name,
