ID-1001165431 Corinthians 9:25 Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last for ever.

There has been a lot of buzz around the long awaited fight between Mayweather and Pacquio. Everybody and their heir mama has been waiting on this fight. I can only imagine the rigor and discipline that is going into the preparation in each fighters camp. This is not just about money but this is about legacy and bragging rights. Nobody will be slacking in training.

Neither should we. We have a far greater prize than any championship bought. We are fighting for a crown that will not perish.

But like boxers and other athletes we have to go into strict training when we are getting ready for the games. In life there are many “games”that the enemy lines to play. He likes to throw you off your game with distractions.

I remember Muhammad Ali was a master at mental warfare. He got Joe Frazier so angry that he hated Muhammad Ali until his death. If you’re not careful you can let people get you out of your game and into your feelings. Stay focused.

Paul says earlier in this chapter, “we put up with anything for the sake of the gospel.” The more important your goal the more the enemy will use any and everything to distract you.

1.  Learn how to press through distractions. Recognize mental warfare and stay focused on the goal.

2.  Train like it’s nobody’s business. For a boxer its cardio and speed. For a swimmer its laps and more laps. For a preacher its prayer and studying.

3.  Take control of your body so your body won’t take control of you. Don’t allow your lack of discipline to disqualify you.

You have something big in front of you that you have been gifted to defeat. It’s your training that catches your body up to your gifts. Don’t let ignorant people distract you from your training. You were born to win. Let the games begin!

Dear God,

Thank you for giving me the ability to press through distractions and put up with anything for the sake of the gospel. Put the right people in my camp that can help me train and not be distracted. I’m too close to forfeit this fight over stupid stuff and stupid people. Thank you for giving me victory in JESUS.
