Zechariah 4:6 Then he said, “This is God’s message to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the Lord Almighty—you will succeed because of my Spirit, though you are few and weak.’

Many times we feel as if we are defeated because of whom we have with us. There were times when I played sports in high school and we would see the opposing team and be intimidated by their size or strength. Because of immaturity we failed to see our own strength because we were too busy focusing on the opposition.

Whatever you are up against doesn’t measure up to the power of God on your side. God plus one equals a majority. Greater is he that is with us than he that is in the world.

Zechariah and the remnant in Israel faced a daunting task of rebuilding Jerusalem. Even though God had prophesied to him that Jerusalem would be restored, Zechariah doubted when he looked at the opposition and the size of the people with him.

God told him not to despise small beginnings. You might be down from what you are used to but what you have left will be all that you need for God to give you the victory.

  1. Not by might. David said in Psalm 20:7 “Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God. “ We can’t do the impossible in our own strength but we can when we are dependent upon God’s strength.
  2. Not by power. Paul realized that when he was weakened by his trials is when he was actually the strongest. And (God) said to me, “’My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. “
  3. You will succeed by my spirit, though you are few and weak. When we make up our minds to abandon our own strength in exchange for God’s Holy Spirit that is when we succeed. You can’t do this in your own strength, your own resources, your own money. You are going to need divine intervention.

God ‘s got you! The mountain you see today has got to come down. God will give you the ability to move your mountains through faith. Despise not small beginnings get ready to win again!

Dear God,

I thank you for rebuilding us. It seemed that we were out numbered and under resourced but you have come through once again. I’m excited about our future. Turn it around God so that everyone who sees it will know you did it. I love you Father God!

In Jesus Name,

Amen
