“Even when there was no reason for hope, Abraham kept hoping—believing that he would become the father of many nations. For God had said to him, “That’s how many descendants you will have!”

Abraham never wavered in believing God’s promise. In fact, his faith grew stronger, and in this he brought glory to God.”
Romans 4:18, 20 NLT

Some people have walked away from their faith because they have lost hope. They feel like they don’t have anything to hope for. Sometimes life can be so hard when we get devastating news from the doctor, tragic news of a relative’s death or trouble on the job. People often give up when there’s no hope.

But faith is the ability to keep hoping when there seems to be no hope left. Abraham, the father of faith, kept hoping when there was no hope left.

God had told Abraham to leave his family and go to a place where he had never been before. God told Abraham he would make his descendants as numerous as the stars. The only problem was that Abraham was close to 100 years old! Abraham kept it 💯 when he bowed down to the ground, but he laughed to himself in disbelief. “How could I become a father at the age of 100?” he thought. “And how can Sarah have a baby when she is ninety years old?” (Genesis 17:17)

After he got his question out God answered and said he would indeed do it and Abraham believed, but more than that he kept on believing.

  1. We have to keep hoping even when we have no reason to hope. We can’t get caught up in what it looks like. We have to keep reminding ourselves of what God spoke over our lives. We have to be like Job when he was sick and lost everything he said, “Though he slay me yet will I trust him!” In the end God blessed Job with ten times what he lost!
  2. Abraham never wavered in his faith. Do you have the ability to hold onto the last thing God told you even though it’s taking a long time for God to do it? Don’t waiver! Don’t stop believing. Don’t stop praying. Don’t stop coming to worship. Don’t stop giving. Don’t stop serving. Don’t stop thinking about tomorrow. It will soon be here. Don’t stop believing!
  3. Ask God to increase your faith! God is able to do exceedingly, abundantly, more than we are able to think or imagine. This is not the season to give up hope. This is the season to increase your faith especially if you don’t have a reason to hope. Sometimes when we are down to nothing that means that God is up to something!

Dear God,

I thank you for keeping me even when it looked like I didn’t have any reason to hope! God, I feel like we are on the verge of another burst of growth and another harvest. It has been bleak and my body has been weak but my spirit man is excited! God please bring to pass every blessing you’ve spoken over us and bring us out of this season of struggle. We are ready to see the promise come to pass. Forgive us of our hidden sin and help us to walk in the fullness of you God and to live in righteousness. We love you and we still believe that you are able to do the impossible!

In Jesus’ Name,

Amen
