James 2:17 So you see, it isn’t enough just to have faith. You must also do good to prove that you have it. Faith that doesn’t show itself by good works is no faith at all—it is dead and useless.

A lot of people talk a good game but very few show up to play. I long for the day when I see a church that is totally engaged in living out what they say they b…elieve. We live in a time where people sit back and watch other people live life. Our children live vicariously through video games. It’s time for us to take action.

Jesus will say to us one day, “You say you love me but I don’t know you.” “Why don’t you know me?” And he will say, “when I was hungry, you didn’t feed me. When I was naked, you didn’t clothe me. When I was in prison, you didn’t come see about me.” Whatever we do for the least of these we also are doing it or not doing it to Jesus.
Don’t say you love Jesus and not help the poor

Don’t say you love Jesus and not give your time, talent, and treasure

Don’t say you love Jesus and never come to the aid of the helpless

Don’t say you love Jesus and never get engaged in missions or ministry

Faith is not just believing but it’s doing. If we love Jesus we have to do something for him consistently. Ministry is serving. If we are not serving anybody then we are not doing anything. Janet Jackson had a song that asked, “What have you done for me lately?” I think God is asking the same thing. Coming to church is not for God that’s for you. Ministry is what we do for God. Church is when you come and offer Worship to God and in exchange God empowers you to go out and serve. Church is our filling station where we get filled up to go out and do something.

Dear God,

Help us to live out our faith by going out and doing something good for somebody who cannot help themselves. Help us to put our faith into action and show the world that you are still alive in what we do to serve others. I know you’re tired of lip service now help us to move on to real service. It’s not what we say it’s what we do.
In Jesus Name,

Amen
