group of african american college studentsJohn 15:17 This is my command: Love each other.

What the world needs now is love sweet love. There’s so much cynicism and meanness in the world. That’s why Donald Trump is leading in the polls right now. He represents the majority of people who are just mean and hard-hearted. The Apostle Paul said the three greatest things we need as believers is Faith, Hope, and Love But Love Trumps all!

We don’t have a problem with erotic love because it is generated by our senses and sex drive. Erotic love is prevalent throughout mass media. Erotic love without God leads to emptiness and disappointment.

Philos or brotherly love is displayed in all the football fans that are excited about a new season. We love those we have something in common as long as we are winning and in the same stadium.

But where we are losing is in the area of agape love. Agape is selfless, sacrificial, unconditional love, the highest of the four types of love in the Bible.

  • If we love each other we wouldn’t kill each other.
  • If we love each other we wouldn’t tear each other down with gossip and vicious attacks on people’s character.
  • If we love each other we would want better for everybody not just people who look like us.
  • If we love each other we wouldn’t hold grudges.

1 Corinthians 13:4-7, 13 Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance. Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love.

God thank you for loving me now help me to love my neighbors as I love myself.

In Jesus Name,

Amen
