“Jesus soon saw a huge crowd of people coming to look for him. Turning to Philip, he asked, “Where can we buy bread to feed all these people?” He was testing Philip, for he already knew what he was going to do.”

John 6:5-6 NLT

Why hasn’t that refund come yet? Why am I going through so much warfare? How am I going to make these ends meet? What if I told you that everything that you are up against is just a test to see if you are going to trust God?

I’m so close I can taste it! It’s often frustrating when you are on the edge of a breakout and yet you are not where you need to be. We’ve all been there. There’s some great need you have but all you have in response are meager resources.

Jesus has 5,000 hungry people with only a little boy’s lunchbox. Jesus turned to Phillip to ask him, “Where will we get food to feed all these people?’” But this was just a test because Jesus already knew what he was going to do.

And so he does in our lives. Often when we are experiencing some kind of shortfall, it is an end of the quarter test to see if we are going to recall the comprehensive nature of God. Can you remember who God has been so that you can pass what you’re up against today?

Here’s how you pass the test.

  1. Bring me what you have. They brought him the lunch of a little boy. If they would’ve brought that little lunch to anybody else but Jesus they would’ve had the bag thrown at them. Feed 5,000 people with this?! But little becomes much when you put it in the hands of Jesus.
  2. Make everyone sit down in connect groups. When people are in a crowd they are subject to panic. When they are in small groups they are more likely to get fed. At our church we realize that people are more likely to get fed by sitting down in a connect group every week outside of the crowd in worship.
  3. Don’t waste what’s left over. When we follow God’s process we must make sure we don’t waste anything in our process toward provision. What you don’t use now you’re going to need later. We have to eliminate waste to be more efficient during times of challenge.

This is a season of tests. Many of our young people are taking tests at the end of the school year so they can go to the next level. I encourage you to pass your tests so that you can go to the next level God has for you.

Dear God,

Thank you for helping me to pass my tests. I know that you will come through for me like you always have. I’m excited about what’s on the other side of this! It’s time to graduate to another level of anointing and provision. Thank you for the blessing and what will be left over from the blessing. I will need it for later!

In Jesus’ Name,
