Jeremiah 12:5 “If you have raced with men on foot and they have worn you out, how can you compete with horses? If you stumble in safe country, how will you manage in the thickets by the Jordan?

John 14:12-14 “I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going… to be with the Father. You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father. Yes, ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it!

My wife was stopped after church by one of our high school students. She asked him, “How are you doing in school?” He said, “I have straight A’s!” School started last week.

All of us start with straight “A’s” but the truth of our competency is not shown unti after we have some tests. Everybody looks good on paper and can impress you in an interview but wait until the tests. Everybody puts on their best face on the first date but wait until the tests before you start talking about marriage. Everybody loves God when their paycheck is fat but will they be around after the tests?

Sometimes tests come to see if God can trust us with greater later. Jesus said, “he who is faithful with little can be trusted with much but he who is unfaithful with little will be unfaithful with much.”

Jeremiah was complaining to God about how all the wicked seemed to prosper while he was struggling. God told Jeremiah that if he could quit now there was no way he would be able to make it later. We are in the second quarter and you want to quit. The tests ain’t even got hard yet. The race is not given to the swift or to the strong but to those who can endure to the end.

Jesus wants us to do greater works than he did.

1. When we run into tests and trials we must use our faith and not lose our faith.
2. Don’t focus on the test focus on the promise. If God said you can believe it. Write the vision and make it plain, though the vision may tarry, wait on it for it shall surely come to pass.
3. Ask anything in Jesus’ name and he will do it!
Dear God,

I’m expecting greater. I know that greater is coming. Greater blessings but also greater burdens. Greater victories but also greater challenges. Help me to realize and remember that greater is he that is in me than he that is in the world. Thank you for being a Great God!

In Jesus Name,
