Luke 9:23 Then he said to them all: ‘Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.

It’s not easy being a Christian or better yet a “follower of Christ.” Everyday is a reminder of just how human we are and great Jesus was as an example to a more excellent way.

It’s so easy to Stacy locked to a carnal mindset that seems so right to your limited mindset. “There’s a way that seems right to a man but in the end it leads to death.” The paradox of following Jesus is that we must die to live.

Jesus told his disciples, “If you want to follow me you have to do three things:

1) Deny yourself daily. Everyday we have to realign our thinking to Jesus’ thinking. The thing that makes it easier is prayer that links our mind to the mind of Christ. The more we stay away from prayer the harder it is to deny our “lizard” brain that is driven by fearful impulses. Perfect love casts out all fear! Make up your mind daily to do life God’s way.

2) Pick up your cross. There is some Kingdom Assignment that requires your sacrificial effort. It’s the way God gets Glory out of you. Only you can do it and it’s probably going to be uncomfortable. Most crosses are!

3) Follow Jesus. Everyday Jesus is leading us to a place where he wants to get glory out of our lives. It’s uncomfortable but in the end it leads to life. Look for God’s leading today after you get out of your feelings.

Dear God,

Thank you for challenging me everyday to get to where you are. You will never leave me where you lead me. Forgive me for being selfish and getting caught up in my feelings. There is more that you require of me and I will do my best to get there.

In Jesus name,
