“Who but God goes up to heaven and comes back down? Who holds the wind in his fists? Who wraps up the oceans in his cloak? Who has created the whole wide world? What is his name—and his son’s name? Tell me if you know!” Proverbs 30:4 NLT

To know him is to love him. We cannot know God, Jesus, or the Holy Spirit through book knowledge alone. We must come to a “saving knowledge ” of Jesus Christ. God has never been alone. From the creation of the world God has existed as three persons in one: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

The way we come to know God is through relationship not religion. Religion enables us to perform without having to trust God! Relationship requires communication and trust.

  1. He came from heaven to earth to show the way. God decided to come to earth to save his creation through his son Jesus. Jesus was born of the Virgin Mary and conceived by the Holy Spirit. Whenever we accept Jesus as our Lord and savior we are born again and filled with the Holy Spirit. This is through relationship.
  2. Jesus went from the earth to the cross to pay our debt. Jesus did for us what we could not do for ourselves. God was on the cross with Jesus reconciling the world back to him. The Holy Spirit convicts us of our sins.
  3. Jesus conquered the grave and ascended back to heaven to be seated at the right hand of God. Before he left he promised he would not leave us comfortless. Jesus promised that we would receive the Holy Spirit to help us live righteously.

The only way to truly know God is through an intimate relationship; praying, reading his word, and serving his people. That’s why the old saints used to say, “I dare you to try him!” His name is Jesus!

Dear God,

Draw me nearer blessed Lord to thy precious bleeding side. God we are able to get a greater understanding of who you are by looking at the life of your son Jesus. Thank you for your Holy Spirit that teaches us the mystery of who you are and helps us to understand your ways. Lead us by your spirit today so that we can join you in your work.

In Jesus Name I pray!
