3 John 1:13-14 “I have much more to say to you, but I don’t want to write it with pen and ink. For I hope to see you soon, and then we will talk face to face.”

We live in a hyper-connected world where people are connected through every social platform you can think of. Our young people text more than they talk. People talk on their Facebook walls as if they are actually talking face to someone but the only problem is that the general public hears what should have been said face to face.

I read a meme the other day that said, “Our WIFI went down and I was forced to talk with my family. They are actually nice people.”

It’s time for us to have a face to face to get to know people again and disconnect from this false sense of intimacy through social media that leads to shallow relationships. You have three thousand followers but no friends. It’s time for a face to face.

  1. There’s much more you can say face to face. Much of what we say in public should have been said in private. To really open your heart you need a face to face.
  1. Take a break from texting and actually have a conversation with someone. A lot can be lost in texting. Body language speaks louder than words. The eyes are the windows to a person’s soul.
  1. You can feel a person’s energy when you are in their presence. There is a transference that takes place in person that can’t happen through words on a screen
  1. Sometimes truth is best-shared one on one. Jesus said, “If your brother or sister offends you, go to them one on one or face to face.” Things escalate when we bring other people into a private matter.
  1. We need face time with God. Instead of always seeking God’s hand for provision spend some time in his presence. Unplug from social media and just talk to God. You will be glad that you did.

Dear God,

Thank you for speaking to me face to face. Help me to build better relationships with the ones I love by speaking to them face to face. Give me the confidence and courage to speak my heart to the people that matter face to face. Help me to carve out time for my loved ones each week to speak face to face. Please Heavenly Father, whatever you do, don’t hide your face from me.

In Jesus Name,
