42815351_sGalatians 1:10 Obviously, I’m not trying to win the approval of people, but of God.  If pleasing people were my goal, I would not be Christ’s servant.

You can waste your life’s purpose trying to please people. You can split yourself up in many pieces trying to please people. You can find yourself living in bondage trying to please people. Some of us don’t need to be delivered from sin. We need to be delivered from pleasing people.

The Apostle Paul knew this early in his ministry. He was called to the Gentiles. He didn’t seek permission from the other apostles. They acknowledged the call on his life.

  1. It is only when you are clear on who you are and what you’ve been called to that you are truly free. What is the unique track that God has called you to? There’s something unique about you that makes you different from everyone else. It’s okay!
  2. Be comfortable in your own skin. I finally realized after 15 years as pastor of New Direction that I was okay being “that church.” That church that reaches the unchurched. That church that is expressive in worship. That church that helps anybody. I love being that church! I love me! You don’t love you?
  3. I don’t need other people’s acceptance or approval. God already let me know that I was worth saving. If God be for me who can be against me? Who cares?!

Dear God,

Thank you for this moment of clarity. You love me and you called me to do what I’m doing and you love how I do it. I am free of the sneers and jeers of my critics. I embrace those that you’ve sent me to watch over. You gave me an awesome church, New Direction Christian Church to watch over. Now help me to make Disciples who make Disciples who are free from pleading people but who spend their lives pleasing you!
In Jesus Name,

Amen
