Isaiah 50:7 Because the Sovereign Lord helps me, I will not be disgraced. Therefore, I have set my face like a stone, determined to do his will. And I know that I will not be put to shame.

Whenever you attempt to do anything worthwhile failure is always a possibility.

I love this quote about failure and success by Michael Jordan:

I’ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.

We cannot be afraid to fail because then we would never succeed. Most of all, as believers, we need to know that there is no failure in God! More than ever I am determined to win for God.

Our formula for success is to:

  1. Know that God is helping you. God is on the side of the righteous. When we are in alignment with God and walk according to his ways he will provide the help that we need. We have an unfair advantage when we live the way we are supposed to. We have the favor of God and favor ain’t fair!
  1. I will not be disgraced. We are so afraid of being shamed through failure. Nobody wants to be embarrassed. God will keep us from shame as long as we don’t embarrass his name. Like any good parent God wants his children to look good and do good. That’s why he helps you so you will not be disgraced.
  1. I will set my face like flint. The flint rock was used as arrow tips so the arrow could be aerodynamic. The shape of the flint allowed the arrow to cut through the resistance of the wind. You have to make up your mind that you are going to set your face like flint meaning that everything that comes against you will not be able to stop you. You are resistant to adversity. With God helping you, you can’t be stopped!
  1. I am determined to do his will. When I studied Tae Kwon Do I had to break three boards with my foot out in the park. I failed on the first attempt. If I missed the second time I would have to retest nine weeks later. My wife was watching. She said to herself, “Stacy will break his foot before he stops trying to break this board.” Thank God I broke the board and not my foot.

God wants to give you breakthrough. The most important thing is to make sure you are in alignment with God and you set your face like flint with determination to carry out God’s will for your life. You will not be put to shame!

Dear God,

Thank you for giving me the determination to succeed against all odds. They said I’d never make it. The said I’d never be here. They said I’d never amount to anything. But I’m glad to say that I’m on my way and I’m growing more and more each day. I’m still holding on to your hand.

In Jesus Name,

Amen
