“But you, dear friends, must build each other up in your most holy faith, pray in the power of the Holy Spirit, and await the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ, who will bring you eternal life. In this way, you will keep yourselves safe in God’s love.” Jude 1:20-21 NLT

This year has to be the craziest time I’ve ever experienced in 48 years of living. It’s like all of the progress we made as a country in the last 50 years has unraveled. I don’t recognize our country. We have made America Hate Again!

The good news is that there are still some good and decent human beings left in this country who do not represent the madness we see reflected in the President elect and his staunch supporters.

In the midst of increased hate crimes, road rage, fake news, wars and rumor of wars, incompetence in appointed government officials; we have got to look for ways to stay safe in a volatile culture.

As believers we have a higher mandate to live by. We cannot allow the Hate that is being propagated and promoted to get inside our souls. We have to stay safe! But how?

  1. Build each other up in your most Holy Faith. I’m so thankful for my Intercessors that have been praying for the church and me. This has been a very challenging week but the encouragement I have received has gotten me through. In a world where so many things are tearing us down emotionally, psychologically, and financially; we need someone who is going to build our faith up and not tear it down. We build each other up by speaking life into one another. Watch your tongue.
  2. Pray in the power of the Holy Spirit. We fight not against flesh and blood but against dark powers and principalities in high places. We are in a heightened state of spiritual warfare. We are not going to win being stuck in our fleshly responses. Darkness cannot drive out darkness only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out evil only love can do that. Pray in the power of the Holy Spirit because if you pray in the flesh you will ask for the death of someone that God wanted to save.
  3. Wait on the mercy of our coming Lord and savior Jesus Christ. We are in the season of advent, which means waiting. We are waiting on the coming of the messiah. Some have made their presidential choice their messiah. I choose to wait on Jesus! He will see us through this! God sent Jesus to save us and keep us safe.

Because the Lord is my shepherd, I have everything I need. He lets me rest in the meadows grass, and leads me beside the quiet streams…that’s why I’m safe, that’s why I’m safe in his arms.

In Jesus Name,
