Numbers 17:5, 8

The staff belonging to the man I choose will sprout, and I will rid myself of this constant grumbling against you by the Israelites.” The next day Moses entered the tent and saw that Aaron’s staff, which represented the tribe of Levi, had not only sprouted but had budded, blossomed and produced almonds.

Anytime you have position you will always have opposition. It comes with the territory.

There will be people who think they can do a better job than you can. The constant murmuring of people towards you simply because you have favor on your life can become burdensome. But God will not put more on you than you can bear. If God chose you, he will silence the murmuring against you.

Instead of focusing on the murmurs get your staff and use your staff to silence your haters.

budEach of the leaders of the twelve tribes of Israel were to select a staff to be placed in the tabernacle and whoever God had selected as the leader over his tabernacle, his staff would sprout. What’s amazing about this is that this was a stick that was not rooted. There was no water added to it. It was beyond its ability to produce vegetation. It was a walking stick. But to shut up the haters God was going to allow sprouts to come out of a dead stick!

The next day when they checked the staffs, Aaron’s staff not only sprouted, but it budded, blossomed, and produced almonds!

This is how you shut your haters up.

1. Budding is a form of asexual reproduction,  in which a new organism develops from an outgrowth or bud due to cell division at one particular site. The new organism remains attached as it grows, separating from the parent organism only when it is mature. The way you shut up your haters is to continue to mature until you are able to separate from your parent (organization). In other words you grow so much that you stand out from what used to support you. People will recognize your budding potential.

2. Blossom means to change, to grow, to develop fully. It means to come into one’s own. While you are under scrutiny you owe it to yourself to continue to develop. Work on your skills so that when its time for inspection you will be able to showcase what you’ve been developing while they’ve been talking.

3. Produce almonds. The last stage is really miraculous because not only did the dead stick sprout it produced almonds. The way to shut people up is to produce fruit! Sometimes God has to cut you for you to be fruitful. Jesus said, “every branch that produces must be pruned so that it will produce more fruit.” The people that cut you off actually did you a favor. They put you in a position to produce more!

Dear God,

Thank you for taking me out of a dead situation and helping me to bud, blossom, and produce. Nobody thought I would be here but you have silenced all of my critics or you’ve made me so fruitful that I can’t even hear them. God you are awesome. Only you could take a dead stick like me and produce what you have produced. I am grateful.

In Jesus Name,
