Isaiah 54:7-8 “For a brief moment I abandoned you,but with great compassion I will take you back. In a burst of anger I turned my face away for a little while. But with everlasting love I will have compassion on you,”says the Lord, your Redeemer.
There have been times when it felt like God had left us. It’s one of the worst feelings to want God and not feel his presence. I know we love quoting the bible when God promises, “Never will I leave you nor forsake you,” but God also said, “for a brief moment I abandoned you.” Israel decided they didn’t want to listen to God and out of hurt and anger God abandoned them. Have there been times when you didn’t listen to God and felt abandoned? If you’re human the answer is “YES!”
The good news is that God is such a loving God and his promise to you this morning is “I’m bringing you Back!”it’s time for the children to come back to school and it’s time for you to come back to church. No matter what caused you to stray or to leave, God said, “I’m bringing you back!”
What is God bringing me back to?
1. Bringing you back to a place of provision. Isaiah 55:1 “Is anyone thirsty?Come and drink—even if you have no money!Come, take your choice of wine or milk—it’s all free! “ when we allow God to bring us back he will provide for us even in an economy that can’t sustain us.
2. He’s bringing us back to a place of protection. Isaiah 54:17 no weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and this is their vindication from me,” declares the LORD.
3. He’s bringing us back to a place of productivity. Isaiah 54:7-8 “The rain and snow come down from the heavens and stay on the ground to water the earth. They cause the grain to grow, producing seed for the farmer and bread for the hungry. It is the same with my word.I send it out, and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all I want it to,and it will prosper everywhere I send it.”
God wants to bring you back but he’s not going to drag you. When the doors open this Sunday make sure you come back where you belong. Come Home!
Thank you for giving me a chance to come back. You didn’t leave me. I left you thru my disobedience. Thank you for being a compassionate God and redeeming me from my sinful mistakes. Renew the right Spirit within me and restore the Joy of my salvation. Thank you for bringing me back!
In Jesus Name,
