Ezekiel 17:24 And all the trees will know that it is I, the Lord, who cuts the tall tree down and makes the short tree grow tall. It is I who makes the green tree wither and gives the dead tree new life. I, the Lord, have spoken, and I will do what I said!”

There was a tree outside my family room that was cut down last year but I looked out the window and right beside the stump there are new branches sprouting up. What I thought was dead is springing back up. Like that tree many of us have been through a “cut back” season where it looked like it was over but God’s word says this:

7“Even a tree has more hope! If it is cut down, it will sprout again and grow new branches. 8Though its roots have grown old in the earth and its stump decays, 9 at the scent of water it will bud and sprout again like a new seedling.”

God also prophesied through Ezekiel that he had the ability to cut down and raise up.

1. God cuts down the proud and the wicked. As a matter of fact pride comes before the fall. When a person loses their humility it’s not long before God brings them back down to earth. The bigger they are the harder they fall.

2. God makes the little tree grow. That’s why the bible tells us to despise not small beginnings. Jesus said the mustard seed is the smallest of all seeds but grows into some of the biggest things. It doesn’t matter how small it is as long as God is in it. If you have faith the size of a mustard seed you can speak to a mountain and it will move!

3. God can make the green tree wither. The green represents money or prosperity. It is God who gives the ability to get wealth. The Lord can give and The Lord can take it away. We should never put our confidence in our money but we should put all our faith in God!

4. God can give life to a dead tree. There are those of us who have experienced great loss through bankruptcy, foreclosure, layoffs, divorce, surgeries but the good news is that God can bring life out of dead things. He can make it grow again.

No matter what it looks like just know that God can make you grow again. Stay humble and let God raise you up! Here we Grow again!

Dear God,

I’ve been low and I’ve been high. Through all my ups and downs you have consistently been good. I’ve learned a lot on my way up but I learned even more when I was down. Thank you for giving me another chance to grow again. Bless your people who are called by your name to grow again.

In Jesus name,
