Deuteronomy 11:13-15 “If you carefully obey the commands I am giving you today, and if you love the Lord your God and serve him with all your heart and soul, then he will send the rains in their proper seasons—the early and late rains—so you can bring in your harvests of grain, new wine, and olive oil. He will give you lush pastureland for your livestock, and you yourselves will have all you want to eat.

When our hearts are right and our soul is health we can experience the abundance that God has for us. When our hearts are depraved and our souls or corrupted it creates a desert. These last two months I’ve been teaching on being healthy Spiritually, relationally, emotionally, and financially. All of these can be summarized to heart and soul. Our heart is the seat of our consciousness and our soul has to do with relationships with others. When our hearts are polluted with unforgiveness it sets up a stony heart that does not allow us to be in right relationship with God and others. The top two commandments are for us to Love God more and people more. When we keep these two commandments God in turn will bless you more.

  1. If you keep these commandments I will send you rain in their proper seasons. God wants to rain down blessings for us but our heart and soul has to be right for God to send the rain. The rain is that which nourishes the seeds we plant. God has the ability to turn deserts into pastureland when we get our hearts right. Because we had deficits in our hearts from past hurts we potentially had deserts where nothing would grow but when we did the necessary work of forgiveness and repentance we create an atmosphere where miracles are possible. God is ready to release the rains in their proper seasons.
  2. God wants to send a harvest of grain, new wine, and oil. God wants to bless us with what will sustain us financially. The early Israelites were an agrarian people. Their grain was their currency. During the famine Joseph used the grain he stored up during the seven good years to make sure the people made it through the seven bad years. God wants to send rain so you can have what you need in good times and bad times. The new wine represents the new spirit he wants to put inside you. He wants to expand your worldview but he can’t put new wine in old wine skins. The oil represents the fresh anointing he wants to release but the Holy Spirit can’t dwell in an unclean vessel. That’s why Jesus said, “if you remember something against your brother while you are giving your offering, leave it there and first go be reconciled with your brother. ” Unforgiveness blocks your harvest. It’s not that tithing doesn’t work it’s that you have a block on your heart and soul that prevents the rain from watering the seed. When you get your heart right and your soul right then your money gets right! The bible says that God loves a cheerful giver. This is someone that has done the heart work and whenever they give obediently and cheerfully they experience rain and harvest. Could it be that you haven’t experienced your harvest because you haven’t done the heart work so it makes your work hard?
  3. God will give you lush pastureland and you will be satisfied. You remember we talked about Mephibolsheth living in Lodebar? That place had no pasture. When our heart and souls are not right we have no pasture and we are not satisfied. But when our heart and soul are in alignment with God we experience pasture and we are satisfied. There is restlessness when our hearts aren’t right. We can have a lot of nice things and still not rest. David said, “the Lord is my shepherd, I have everything I need. He lets me rest in the meadows grass and leads me beside the quiet streams.”
  4. Whenever we turn from God and serve other gods we mess up our harvest. Jesus said, “you cannot serve God and mammon!” The love of money is the root of all evil. Our harvests don’t make it because our roots are bad. When your heart is in the right place and you are serving the right God your harvest will flourish.

Dear God,

Help me to get my heart right so you can get my harvest right. Thank you for sending the early rain and the late rain. There has been a shifting in my seasons every since I decided to get my heart right. You are an amazing God and I expect a downpour over the next couple of months just because I know that you are well able to make it rain!

In Jesus Name,
