Ezekiel 42:14 When the priests leave the sanctuary, they must not go directly to the outer courtyard. They must first take off the clothes they wore while ministering, because these clothes are holy. They must put on other clothes before entering the parts of the building complex open to the public.”

Before my children leave the house my wife and I always have to check to see if they are dressed appropriately. Yesterday my youngest tried to leave the house without ironing his pants. She caught him in enough time to iron them. An hour later as I was leaving for work I came out with some pants “slightly less wrinkled”… My wife called me by my full name and said, “if your son can’t go out with wrinkled clothes you know you can’t! You’re the priest of the house!”

As the leaders of our homes it’s important to set a precedent by the way we carry ourselves. Our dress says everything. Our dress represents our mindset. When we go out in the public we are not just representing ourselves but also God.

The priests had to have on special linen garments when they served in the Holy Space in the Temple. When it was time to leave to be out amongst the common people they had to change clothes. They had to remove their Holy garments when they went around common people.

I think it’s important to remove Holy Garments around common peole but still keep your armor on. Some people are so heavenly minded they are no earthly good. They have an air of self righteousness and can’t relate to common people. Jesus didn’t walk around with fancy robes on like the religious leaders but instead wore a common seamless robe. The common people heard him gladly not because of what he had on but what he had in.

When we change clothes to go out we must make sure..

1. We are clothed in humility. Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Colossians 3:12

2. Clothe yourself in righteousness. Romans 13:13-14 Because we belong to the day, we must live decent lives for all to see. Don’t participate in the darkness of wild parties and drunkenness, or in sexual promiscuity and immoral living, or in quarreling and jealousy. Instead, clothe yourself with the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ. And don’t let yourself think about ways to indulge your evil desires.

3. Put on the full armor of God. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Ephesians 6:13

Dear God,

Help me to dress accordingly. Before I leave the house help me to dress appropriately for where I’m going. Help people to see you and not me. I want to make you proud at all times.

In Jesus Name,
