“Rejoice, you people of Jerusalem! Rejoice in the Lord your God! For the rain he sends demonstrates his faithfulness. Once more the autumn rains will come, as well as the rains of spring. The threshing floors will again be piled high with grain, and the presses will overflow with new wine and olive oil.”

Joel 2:23-24 NLT

This weather is unpredictable. I even read an article that said that global warming has been caused by human behavior. We used to be able to discern the season by the weather patterns. Now you just have to know what season it should be without depending on the consistency of the weather.

As believers we can count on the faithfulness of God. This morning it’s raining and it’s a calming effect for me. There is an air of expectation that God is about to move on our behalf. I haven’t had this kind of assurance in a long time. God has been continually whispering in my spirit lately, “It’s my winning season!” Now, if I go by what my financial forecast looks like it would appear that it’s not my winning season, but if I look at the track record of God I will see that it’s my winning season and everything attached to me is about to be blessed!

  1. Rejoice because the rain reminds us of God’s faithfulness. God keeps sending rain when we need it. We may go through long periods of drought but the rain is going to eventually come. This morning he’s sending autumn rain.
  2. The threshing floors will once again be piled high with grain. There’s no grain without threshing. God had to separate the wheat from the tare before you could get the grain. There has been a season of separating that God had to do before you could see the increase in your grain. Some people had to leave before you could get the wheat! The season of separation is over and now the grain is about to rise.
  3. The presses will rise with new wine and olive oil. The pressing is necessary for new wine and oil. Both of these represent our anointing. You can’t pour new wine in old wine skins. If you don’t have enough “give” in you then you can’t hold the new. If you give up in the pressing then you will miss the blessing. Because you made it through this season you are about to experience new levels of anointing.

Dear God,

Thank you for the autumn rain! It came late but it was right on time. I thought you had forgotten about us until I saw the rain forecast. You have been so faithful even when we have not. Father, fill our granary, restock our shelves, send new revenue streams, let more people stream into your sanctuary, recover what was lost, and refill what was empty. Thank you for the overflow! Thank you for paying off my debts and letting me live off of what’s left over! Thank you for the rain!

In Jesus’ Name,

Amen
