Romans 15:13 I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Fill me up until I overflow. I want to flow over. I want to flow over.

We are in a season of waiting. This is the time of year that we as Christians eagerly await a renewed wonder of Jesus Christ. Christmas is a time to reflect on the entry of the Son of God into the earth’s stratosphere. The world was and is in need of a savior. People were and are living in hopelessness. We are living life on empty waiting for God to fill us up until we overflow.

God wants us in overflow but before that happen he has to fill us up.

  1. God is the source of all hope. Hope is defined as 1.a feeling of expectation and desire for a certain thing to happen. Many of us still have audacity to hope regardless of the reality that times are hard and resources are slim. We have hope that things are going to get better. It’s not just wishful thinking because our hope is in God who is the author and the finisher of our faith. All good things come from him. Possibilities are unlimited in God.
  1. I pray that God will fill you with Joy and Peace. Joy is different than happiness. Happiness is based on what you have around you but Joy is based on what you have in you. Joy is an inner zeal that is a direct reflection of my connection to my risen savior. Peace is a calm assurance that protects my mind and guards my heart when my outward circumstances don’t match my inward hope. When God fills me with Joy and Peace it gives me the ability to wait on what I’m hoping for until it actually manifests.
  1. You have to trust God to get it. There is no filling without trust. It is impossible to please God without faith. No matter what it looks like you have to put your trust in God that he will provide all your needs according to his riches in Glory.
  1. Then you will overflow in Confident Hope through the Power of the Holy Spirit. I like that, “Confident Hope through the Power of the Holy Spirit.” When you have Confident Hope it overflows onto other people. Hope is a dangerous thing. Hope can cause oppressed slaves to rise up and be emancipated. Hope can cause teenagers to shake off apartheid in South Africa. Hope can cause teenagers in America to stand up with confidence to say “All lives matter!”

I pray that God would fill you to overflow today so that other people around you would experience confident Hope.

Dear God,

Put me in overflow this month. I’m not talking so much as material overflow as I am spiritual overflow. Somebody around me needs to know that Jesus is real. They will know we are Christians by the overflow of love coming out of our hearts. God I trust you to provide all that we need. I’m excited about my future because my Hope is in nothing less than Jesus Christ and his righteousness. I love you Lord!

 In Jesus Name,
