“When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you.” Isaiah 43:2 NLT
Through the fire
To the limit, to the wall
For a chance to be with you
I’d gladly risk it all
Through the fire
Through whatever, come what may
For a chance at loving you
I’d take it all the way
Right down to the wire
Even through the fire
Chaka Khan, through the Fire
It’s pretty scary when we go through something we’ve never been through before. Making a blue ocean shift for example requires you to abandon familiar waters of competition with other people in your industry and shift to unchartered waters in the blue ocean of untapped opportunities.
I can only imagine the terror the children of Israel experienced when they were at the Red Sea and the Egyptian army had them surrounded. God made a way through the sea by parting the ocean. They walked across on dry ground. God split an ocean so they could walk through it!
As you make your blue ocean shift God’s promise to you is threefold:
- When you go through deep waters I will be with you. Deep implies that something is over our head. It’s overwhelming. But God’s promise is that he will be with us as we go through it. He will make a way out of no way. What looks impossible for man is possible with God.
- When you go through rivers of difficulty he won’t let you drown. When Joshua took the children of Israel across the Jordan River into the promised land the river was at flood stage. But just as he took them through the Red Sea, God also took them across the Jordan River without drowning. It might be difficult but you will not drown! You have to step in the river at flood stage by faith and watch God push the flood waters back!
- When you walk through the fire of oppression you will not be burned. I’m reminded of the three Hebrew boys who were thrown in the fiery furnace because they wouldn’t bow down to an idol god. Jesus was walking around in the furnace with them and when the king called them out their clothes were not burnt and they didn’t even smell like smoke! When you trust God he will not allow you to look like what you’ve been through!
Please realize as God shifts you he will see you through!
I trust you this morning that you will get me through to the other side of this! It didn’t come to stay. It came to pass! Thank you for making a way in the deep ocean, for getting us through the difficult river, and for keeping me from burning up in the fire of oppression. You are an amazing God and come what may I will trust you. You will see me through!
In Jesus’ Name,
