John 9:4 As long as it is day, we must do the works of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work.

Daylight saving time (DST) or summer time is the practice of advancing clocks during the summer months that have more daylight so that people get up earlier in the morning and experience more daylight in the evening. Ty…pically clocks are adjusted forward one hour near the start of spring and are adjusted backward in the autumn.[1]

God has given us all some DST. There is something he wants us to accomplish before it gets too late. While there is light there is some work that God wants us to accomplish before it gets too dark. We don’t want to get to the end of our summer and lament like Jeremiah did when he said, “The harvest is finished, and the summer is gone,” the people cry, “yet we are not saved!”

The summer represents the prime time in our lives. It’s the time when we do all of the work to prepare for the harvest. Our harvest is what we have to show for our work. DST is the time in your life where God gives you a time to get it together. In the physical DST ends November 2, 2014. In the Spirit DST ends the second God decides your time is up. God is patient. He doesn’t want anyone to perish but that all might be saved that’s why he gives us time to do the work.

What kind of work?

1. Physical work. Whatever you do, do well. For when you go to the grave, there will be no work or planning or knowledge or wisdom. Ecclesiastes 9:10 it’s important to find something you love doing and put your heart into it. When you do what you love you will never work a day of your life.
2. Soul Work. Dear friends, you always followed my instructions when I was with you. And now that I am away, it is even more important. Work hard to show the results of your salvation, obeying God with deep reverence and fear. Philippians 2:12 after we are saved by accepting Jesus as our Lord and Savior we have to do the work of becoming more like him.
3. Harvest work. He said to his disciples, “The harvest is great, but the workers are few. 38So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields.” Matthew 9:37-38 we must be intentional about going after those who are not saved and helping them to find Christ. We must get involved in a ministry or missions to help people find God.
Dear God help me to take advantage of the time you have given me on this earth. I know that time ain’t long and I want to be able to hear you say at the end of my time, “well done, good and faithful servant. You’ve been faithful over a few things. Now come on up and I will make you ruler over many!” Give me strength to finish my work.

In Jesus Name,

Amen
