Mark 2:22

“And no one puts new wine into old wineskins. For the wine would burst the wineskins, and the wine and the skins would both be lost. New wine calls for new wineskins.”

vecchiaiaSome people get older faster than other people. Have you ever seen people you grew up with and say to yourself, “man they look old?!”  The more tragic thing than looking old is acting old. Acting old is when your mind and spirit loses its elasticity. You no longer have the ability to dream and absorb new information. It’s not because you don’t have the ability bits because you refuse to stretch.

When Jesus came to introduce God’s Kingdom many older religious people missed it because they were too rigid. They should have been the first to see it but their spiritual vision had grown dim with religious routine. Jesus told his disciples that you cannot waste time trying to pour into rigid people.

How to stay new:

1. Keep your spirit pliable through the daily reading of God’s word.

2. Keep your heart soft through forgiveness.

3. Stay humble and teachable.

4. Stir up the Spirit that is in you. Everyday we must ask God to renew the right spirit that is within us.

5. We must spiritually detox to get the contaminates of this world out of our system. We should periodically fast.

If God wanted to give you a new revelation would you be able to hold it or would it wasted? Are you still growing in your faith or stagnant? Can God trust you to hold anything new?

Dear God,

Stretch me. Open my eyes to new possibilities. Don’t let me grow old even as I age. Help me to remain pliable, to dream dreams and see visions. Help me to remain a student and continue to progress and not regress.

In Jesus Name,
