Mark 14:37-38 Then he came and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, “Simon, are you sleeping? Couldn’t you stay awake for one hour? Stay awake and pray that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

I have only just a minute, only sixty seconds in it. Forced upon me, can’t refuse it. Didn’t seek it, didn’t choose it. But it’s up to me to use

There are so many things that demand our attention and time. I hear people say quite often, “There’s not enough time in the day!” God gives enough time we just have to make sure we make Good use of it. Time is a precious commodity.

In all the things we give our time to, do we really make time for God? I think God deserves at least an hour every day and at least two on the Sabbath! We say we love God and Jesus but sometimes we can’t even give him an hour.

Jesus was pressed for time! It was close for the time for him to be arrested and crucified. He knew it! He asked his closest disciples to watch and pray with him while he tried to muster up the strength to face his crucifixion. But every time he came back to check on the disciples they were asleep. Jesus asked them, “Can’t you stay awake with me just one hour?”

  1. An hour a day. I think it’s important to give God an hour each day in prayer and reading scripture. This is the time that God downloads what we need in our spirit to have a power packed day.
  2. An hour of service every week. We should devote an hour every week volunteering our time to help someone; whether it’s in ministry Orin the community.
  3. We need an hour of discipleship each week. You need to get in a small group where you can study God’s word and build relationships with other believers.
  4. An hour in Worship. The bible tells us to “forsake not the assembly of ourselves together as some have gotten in the habit of doing.” The Sabbath is God’s day. If there’s any day that we should not be worried about what time it is that day should be Sunday or the (Son’s Day)! Think about it! This is the day that Jesus calls his closest disciples together to ask us to watch and pray with him but some of us can’t make it an hour before we fall asleep it get up to tip out. If we truly love Jesus we should be able to give him an hour!

Dear God,

Think you for spending a sweet hour of prayer with me this morning. I love when you spend time with me. My mind is refreshed. My heart is full of Joy. My spirit man is encouraged. Every hour I devote to you gives me power and productivity in the other hours I devote to other things. Use me today to make the most of my time and give you Glory in how I use it.

In Jesus Name,
