Luke 16:10 “Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much.

Genesis 39:4-5 Joseph found favor in his eyes and became his attendant. Potiphar put him in charge of his household, and he entrusted to his care everything he owned. From the time he put him in charge of his household and of all that he owned, the Lord blessed the household of the Egyptian because of Joseph. The blessing of the Lord was on everything Potiphar had, both in the house and in the field.

One of the most important qualities that draw employers to you is the trust factor. They are looking for people that can be trusted. It’s hard to find people that you don’t have to check behind.  It’s so important to do what you say you are going to do and be where you say you are going to be. If you can’t be trusted with little things who’s going to trust you with big things?

Joseph was the epitome of a good employee. Before he was Prince of Egypt he was trusted by his father as a little shepherd boy. His father counted on him to give an account of what his brothers were doing in the shepherds field. The brothers didn’t care for that quality too much and sold him into slavery.

Every where Joseph landed he prospered and succeeded because of the trust factor.

1.  At Potiphar’s house he entrusted Joseph with his entire estate because Joseph succeeded in all of his assignments. I can imagine that he won that trust by successfully accomplishing each task. His master didn’t have to worry about anything under Joseph’s care. Are you profitable to your boss? If people constantly have to fix things behind you than you can’t be trusted. If people have to catch balls you drop you can’t be trusted.

2.  Joseph was made a trustee in prison. If he was such a good employee why did he go to prison? Because his boss’ lied on him! You can have favor and still experience injustice. But because you are favored even in that situation God can work it out for your good. Don’t break character even when falsely accused. Your gifts will make room for you and bring you into the presence of great men. Joseph interpreted the dreams of some important royal officials, one of which told pharaoh two years later about the exceptional gifts of the trustee.

3.  Joseph became second in charge of all of Egypt. People see your Glory but don’t know your story. Integrity is the ladder to success. Joseph climbed out of the pit all the way to the palace by never skipping any steps of being trusted. Pharaoh saw that Joseph could be trusted and he was gifted to give wise counsel. It’s not enough to he gifted if you can’t be trusted. These people ain’t loyal!! Can you be trusted?!

Dear God,

Thank you for giving me the rare gift of trust. My whole career and calling is based on a trust. Teach us all how to he better stewards. If we can learn how to be trusted with little I know you will give us more. Will a man rob God? Yes we have robbed you of tithes and offerings. But if you will give us a chance to prove you right we will earn your trust back this year. Thank you for favor. Thank you Father for your trust!

In Jesus Name,
