Acts 1:7 He told them, “You don’t get to know the time. Timing is the Father’s business. What you’ll get is the Holy Spirit. And when the Holy Spirit comes on you, you will be able to be my witnesses in Jerusalem, all over Judea and Samaria, even to the ends of the world.”

We spend a lot of time wondering if it’s time. I’ve discovered that when you make good use of your time that time flies.

We are waiting on God to move and God is waiting on us to move. Jesus tells his disciples to wait on the Holy Spirit in Jerusalem. They couldn’t be effective until God filled them with his Holy Spirit. The filling of the Holy Spirit wasn’t for a feeling. In today’s church we are waiting for a feeling instead of a filling. Once we are filled with the Holy Spirit we are supposed to be witnesses!

  1. Can I get a Witness? A witness is someone who can testify to something they have seen with their own eyes. When you have experienced the goodness of Jesus and all that he’s done for you then you have to bear witness to people that have not experienced his grace.

  1. It’s by God’s power that you are able to witness. So many people are intimidated by witnessing. Jesus’ promised us that he would give us the power to witness. Don’t worry about what you will say; God will put the words on your lips.

  1. Go witness in Jerusalem, Judaea, Samaria, and the uttermost parts of the world. Jerusalem is our backyard. The first people we need to witness to are people we are already in relationship with. Judaea is a place remotely close. These are the people we are associated with at work and school. Samaria is a place further away and culturally different. These are people we encounter in our travels. The uttermost parts of the world represent mission opportunities where we intentionally go across the world presenting the gospel.

This week reach out to at least four people to be a witness: family, co-worker/friend, a stranger you engage in dialogue, and someone the Holy Spirit allows you to cross paths with from a different culture. Can God count on you to be a witness?

Dear God,

Make me sensitive to opportunities where I can share with others just how good you’ve been to me. I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ for it is the power that leads to people being saved. Use me to reach somebody who has lost their way or who has never experienced the saving power of Jesus Christ.

In Jesus Name I pray!

Amen
