“Be patient, then, brothers and sisters, until the Lord’s coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop, patiently waiting for the autumn and spring rains. You too, be patient and stand firm, because the Lord’s coming is near.”
James 5:7-8 NIV

That which has been delayed is due to arrive any day now. I love when I order something online and they give you a tracking number. The beauty of it is that I can monitor what I’ve ordered and see its progress as it is delivered to me. When it has been delivered I get an email or text that it has been delivered to my address. If only my prayers were that easy.

We can pray for something and not know when it will arrive. But once you ask God in faith you have to trust him for the process of delivery. This process requires:

  1. Patience—Be patient, then, brothers and sisters, until the Lord’s coming.  Patience is the capacity to accept or tolerate delay, trouble or suffering without getting angry or upset. We have patience when we pray knowing that God may not come when you want him to but he’s always on time.
  2. Waiting on the Lord – See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop, patiently waiting for the autumn and spring rains. In our waiting we have to endure the time it takes for the seed to mature in the ground even as we wait on the rain to activate what we’ve sown. This is hard because we know what we’ve planted but we have no control over when it rains. But our faith tells us that it’s going to happen any day now! My grandmother could smell when it was going to rain. I smell rain coming! Any day now!!
  3. Standing firm – You too, be patient and stand firm, because the Lord’s coming is near. Ain’t no need of giving up now. It’s almost time for his return. This old world will soon be over but the good news is that Jesus will be back before it’s over. We should’ve gotten an email in our spirit that Jesus is on his way. These signs that we’ve been given ought to tell us that he’s close. And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all  these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. But he who endures to the end shall be saved. Matthew 24:6,12-13

God will deliver any day now! Just be patient, work your harvest, and stand still to see your victory. It’s closer than you think.

Dear God,

I thank you that we are so close to receiving what we prayed for. It might have taken all year. It might’ve taken our whole life but I know my change is coming any day now. Thank you for hearing my prayer and delivering on time.

In Jesus’ Name,

Amen
