You should Listen!
You should have listened
There is someone here inside
Someone I thought had died
So long ago
Oh I’m screaming out, and my dreams will be heard
They will not be pushed aside or worked Into your own
All cause you won’t
Psalm 81:13-14 Oh, that my people would listen to me! Oh, that Israel would follow me, walking in my paths! How quickly I would then subdue their enemies! How soon my hands would be upon their foes!
God is always speaking to us but it is our own choice to listen to what he is saying. He is speaking to us because he loves us and wants what is best for us. In the depths of our souls we know what is right and wrong. It is up to us to be able to have the discipline of listening.
1. Listening to God means having the ability to stop negative thoughts. 2 Corinthians 10:5 (NIV) 5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.
2. Listening to God protects our prosperity. Daniel 4:27 “‘please accept my advice. Stop sinning and do what is right. Break from your wicked past and be merciful to the poor. Perhaps then you will continue to prosper.’
3. Listening to God delivers us from our enemies. Psalm 81:13-14 Oh, that my people would listen to me!Oh, that Israel would follow me, walking in my paths! How quickly I would then subdue their enemies! How soon my hands would be upon their foes!
4. Listening to God saves us from an open shame. Galatians 6:7-8 Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.
Thank you for caring enough for me that you still talk to me. You send me messages through your word. You send prophets to me. You still whisper to my hear through your Holy Spirit. Today I will heed your voice and make the necessary corrections. I am listening.
In Jesus Name,
